Watch Strap Sizing Guide: How to Measure Lug Width & Wrist Size

One of the most common questions we get before an order is: "What size should I choose?" Since every Thor Leather Craft watch strap is made to order, getting the sizing right means your strap fits your exact watch and wrist from the moment it arrives. Here's a simple, no-guesswork way to measure.

Step 1: Find Your Lug Width

Lug width is the distance between the two horns on your watch case, where the strap attaches. Most watches list this on the case back or in the original manual (commonly 18mm, 20mm, 22mm, or 24mm). If you can't find it listed, remove your current strap and measure the gap between the lugs with a ruler, or measure the width of your existing strap where it meets the case.

Step 2: Measure Your Wrist

Wrap a soft measuring tape (or a strip of paper, then measure the paper with a ruler) snugly around your wrist, just below the wrist bone, at the point where you'd normally wear your watch. Note the measurement in millimeters. This determines the strap length range that will sit comfortably at your preferred hole.

Step 3: Match Lugs to Buckle Width

On most straps, the buckle width is slightly narrower than the lug width for a tapered, classic look (for example, 22mm at the lugs tapering to 20mm at the buckle). If you prefer a straight, non-tapered strap, let us know in the order notes and we can accommodate it.
